I'm a big fan of paranormal romance and loved the premise of this new series. Jacki Frank's first book "Jacob" was creative and interesting and humorous. Usually, I don't like the flippant, tough talking female characters. But this one (Isabel) is a strong, funny human woman with just enough irreverence to keep the scenes from getting too heavy and melodramatic. I liked the mix of fantasy and reality. And the secondary characters are really interesting, leaving lots of room for future stories.

This is the first Nightwalker book in the series and it was great! I love authors that are able to introduce a group of characters that stay close through out the series.
Can't wait for the next one to come out!

Excellent paranormal- at first I thought the book was about vampires. But it's actually about demons.

For 700 years he has resisted temptation.
But not tonight....
Jacob knows the excuses his people give when the madness overtakes them and they fall prey to their lust for humans. He's heard every one and still brought the trespassers to justice. Immune to forbidden desires, or the curse of the moon. His control is total..... until the moment he sees Isabella on a shadowy New York street. Saving her life wasn't in his plans. Nor were the overwhelming feelings she arouses in him. But the moment he holds her in his arms and feels the soft explosion of her body against his, everything changes.

This was an unique tale of a story about demons. It makes you look upon them and other "unusual" things differently. Very well written and I couldn't put it down, literally read it in a day. Just bought Gideon and I'm anxious to read it as well. It was erotic, and steamy with an excellant story to back it up. You become absorbed in the story, left wanting more at the end.

Get through the first chapter or two & you'll be hooked until the end.

It was refreshing to read a paranormal romance with characters who were just a little different. These aren't vampires or shifters or weres, these are Demons.

And the Demons are not bad guys! They are not typical 'horned & hoofed' boogie men from Hell. Instead they are in tune with the elements, Fire, Air, Water, Earth, and have powers which align with each Demon's specific element.

I think the cover makes this look much more of an 'erotic' read than it really is. Yes, there are few sex scenes, but they are not overly blatant or kinky. In fact, the Earth Demon Jacob, has a little trouble controlling his ability to 'move the earth' (literally) during sex which leads a bad guy to them so she even gave it, the sex scene, dual purpose.

I only gave it 4 stars because you have to blow me away to earn a 5, but I was drawn in enough that I am impatient to read the next installment, Gideon. We got a good glimpse of him in Jacob - just enough to tease & entice.

If you enjoy paranormal romance, I recommend giving it a read.

This was a good book! As the first book in a series, it was not as gripping as I would have liked, but when I finished reading it I knew I was gonna read the whole series. Jacob and Bella are destined to be together and have to fight the Demon laws to do so. Jacob was a little to needy for my taste, but I couldn't help falling for him just a little. Bella was a wonderfully charming, smart, strong, independent character! Even in the midst of chaos, I like it when a character is sarcastic and makes comments that leave you unable to laugh out loud, Bella had that way about her! You also meet some other amazing characters that follow into the next couple of books. Definitely recommend this book and its series to all who enjoy romance, mixed with a little danger and of course, some characters not of the human variety!!! Enjoy!!!

First time I've read Frank's work. Well written & enjoyed the story line. I would order another one of this series.
