This is definitely Cyns book. If you dont know who Cyn is you really need to back up and read book number one, Raphael. That said, I will assume if youre still reading this that you know Cyn is the tough private eye character in book 1 who got involved with Raphael, the most powerful Vampire Master in North America.

In the last book Raphael left Cyn for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that vampire politics can be very bloody, frequently fatal and Cyn is human. In this book, Cyn proves she is more than capable of kicking asses and taking names whether the perps are human or vampire. Lets just say I LOVED the final climactic scene because I cant figure out how to say it without a spoiler.

In many ways, although the book has a stand-alone plot line, this book is a continuation of book 1. It opens only a month after the end of the last with our heroine trying to move on. She figures that putting a couple of states between them is a good idea so she takes a case in Texas. Unfortunately for that plan, she discovers a truly vicious vampire master and has to contact Duncan, Raphaels head of security. There are several subplots going on, but essentially it is vampire politics at its bloodiest.

This is another great read in this series. I look forward to reading more of them.

So......I absolutely love this series! It is fast paced and full of action. Never boring, and really hard to put down and go to bed. I ask myself what took me so long to start this series, it didn't initially catch my attention until I read all the great reviews. Now I am reading them all back to back as fast as I can, thankfully they are all available by kindle. Cyn is a very independent woman with her own business and her own life. But she seems to have a knack for getting into some serious trouble every time she takes a case involving a vampire. She heads to Houston on a case for another vampire lord to put space and time between her and her broken heart. It's just a matter of time before both Cyn and Raphael admit they can't live without each other, right? The sensual aspect to this series is just enough to keep your heart engaged without overwhelming the story unnecessarily. But the passion is always there with Cyn and Raphael. I can't wait to see what happens next.

And let me say that I don't think it should have been titled Jabril, he is a monster, and didn't deserve the title. It should have been titled Mirabelle, because she was the reason for the story. Also, who is Sara? She appears in the epilogue as if she is of some importance to the story and Cyn. But I don't recall reading her name anywhere in the story line in either book. Oh well, not an earth shattering detail, just puzzling.

JABRIL doesnt skip a beat and picks up right where RAPHAEL ended. Cyn, suffering from a broken heart and wanting to put distance between herself and Raphael, heads to Houston, Texas, when she is offered a job from the powerful Vampire Lord, Jabril Karim. Unfortunately, when she meets Jabril, she is disturbed at what she finds.

Lord Jabril hires Cyn to find his runaway ward, Elizabeth. He is also aware of Cyns connection with Raphael. Jabril is a sleaze. He is cruel and uses his minions and blood slaves for his nefarious, selfish purposes. Cyn accepts the assignment to find Liz and secretly decides to get Lizs sister, Mirabelle away from Jabril.

Liz and Mirabelle have been under Jabrils care since the death of their parents many years ago. Mirabelle was turned into a vampire by Jabril, but Liz was not. He needs both sisters for one thing: their inheritance aka money. These sisters are as different as night and day. Liz has a strong backbone, learns to take care of herself, and has managed to stay away from Jabril for the most part. Whereas, Mirabelle has become sacred and cowed, submissive to a point of slavery.

Cyn is ever the badass heroine with a heart of gold. She does get Mirabelle away from Jabril and back to LA at the peril of her own safety and heart. She has to call on Raphael for his protection for Mirabelle, and Mirabelle must formally ask Raphaels permission to live in his territory. The reconnection of Cyn and Raphael begins (read hot and bothered). As Raphael opens up to Cyn and reveals a bit of his past, he makes a confession. It is a tender and moving moment when Cyn realizes just how vulnerable love has made Raphael.

So, having at last met a foe I could not defeat, I fled, he said in disgust. Rather than face you in my weakness, I thought to leave you behind, to forget about you, which I thought was surely possible. After all, how could one human overwhelm me with feelings in such a short period of time?

JABRIL is captivating with the evolution of Mirabelle and the development of Cyn and Raphael. But the shit hits the fan when Jabril decides to intercede and make his play. That is when the action really starts and our girl Cyn comes to life. Beware: bloody, gory vamp violence with a bit of good ole human know-how mixed in to even the odds. I expect nothing less from Ms. Reynolds! JABRIL ends with a superb twist I sure didnt see coming!
