Islands of the Black Moon is a pretty good children's book. It is about a girl named Lila who travels to another world after opening a bottle that her aunt gives to her as her inheritance. She searches for her father who disappeared 5 years ago. The characters are quite flat as can be expected in a children's book.
This book is NOT part of the Tales of the Nine Charms Trilogy as the title claims. The only relation is that they are by the same authors.
