Finally, a science fiction movie that is actually science fiction!  It has a few implausibilities, but just the fact that one can talk about plausibility puts it way above all the popular space opera films. Comparisons to 2001 and to Contact are reasonable.  Oh yeah, human drama and a humane message too.

I thought the movie was a dark muddled mess.  The science was either way too complex for mortals or was implausible (like planets orbiting a black hole that had a random ambient light).  The characters were undeveloped.  Some were there just to die.
