If you don't care for Nora Roberts BUT love Mystery/Dark Thrillers with a side of romance and a dash of comedy - then I think you'll love J.D. Robb's ... In Death series written by Nora Roberts alter ego.

I won't go into the details of the books but will tell you this: Superb character development, continuity of the story line (which means you really need to read the books in order although they can stand alone) is top notch, the relationships that are webbed and weaved together throughout each page are phenomenal and let's the reader 'really' get to know the characters.

Here's a list of all the books in order (I'm leaving off the 'In Death' part):

1 Naked
2 Glory
3 Immortal
4 Rapture
5 Ceremony
6 Vengence
7 Holiday
7.5 Midnight in Death (Silent Night Anthology)
8 Conspiracy

Pretty darn good for such a shorty. Loved it all the same.

Short story, only 88 pages total. They used to give these away to get people interested. Now they charge.

A "no frills" Eve Dallas. Kinda fun tho; it took me about an hour and a quarter to read it.

Interlude is an 88-page novella in quick-moving Robb style.

This story was originally part of an anthology....I was able to find it as a single book....set on one of Roarke's resort planets...Eve has to find out who is after Roarke and herself. Very good book...part of the In Death Series.

I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York City is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.

This is listed as 12.5 in the series, but it needs to be either 11.5 or 13.5.
Book 13 (Seduction in Death) picks up right after Book 12 (Betrayal in Death) ends, with Roarke in Ireland attending the funeral of a friend.

Number one New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts, writing as J.D. Robb, has taken romantic suspense to an electrifying new level in her Death series. Now she takes Lt. Eve Dallas off-planet, where she just might lose the man she loves...

Eve is resigned to the fact that she's been ordered to give a seminar at a police conference - and that she'll have to leave Earth to do it. But dedication to her job only goes so far, and when a legendary commander sets his sights on taking down her husband, Roarke, Eve will do everything in her power to stop him...

Wow! What can I say about the "In Death Series." Nora
Roberts is an exciting writer and I have enjoyed this book very much and all of the others, too. Her sense of things to come in the future are amazing and a lot of them have come true over the last 20 years. Karen M.
