This is a sequel to Extinct, I really enjoyed it but I was conflicted by all of the loose ends. There were a few too many unanswered questions and things left hanging out there for me. Well, now I am completely satisfied. This book was a great end to a great story. Ike Hamill writes some of the most original horror novels I have ever read. Instinct takes up where Extinct left off. Robby and his group are one the run. We finally get to know the progress of the group that left for the farm. We also meet some other interesting characters. This story involves monsters, zombies, flesh melting mists, aliens, government conspiracies and it combines all of these things in a way that it all works. You will need to read the first book to have any clue what is going on.
