Are you kidding me?? What a waste of paper in my opinion. Same thing practically word for word written over and over! I thought I was going to scream- O'Yeah, I did!! Story line was SO promising and great and for some reason BJ killed it with over written whinning and a no backbone main character. If you like whinney, prissy women as a main character this is the book for you.

I'm REALLY glad this wasn't the first Brenda Joyce book I ever read, or I might have avoided her books. The heroine was THE biggest non-sexual heroine I have ever read about. "no, that's improper and sinful!" would be her catch phrase, I do believe. I really wouldn't have minded if the hero had dumped her butt and found someone who actually enjoys sex. For excellent Brenda Joyce reading try, "The Game", "Promise of the Rose", and "The Conqueror".
The only good thing about this book is there are only a few typos. Well, and whomever wrote the back cover can make dreck sounds interesting.
This book leaves me with two minds. One, the heroine was realistic (for the time and her years in a convent and her violent father) and the pages sped by because there was always something happening. On the other hand, getting kidnapped three times was a bit much, even if the girl/woman was gorgeous. I tried to remember that the heroine was only 17-years-of-age.
The points made by the author seemed redundant and after a while became tedious. Derek Bragg was a great character; Miranda was less interesting. Because the author harped on the innocence of Miranda, I grew tired of the character. The interesting story really seemed like a 4-star book but the author's repetition knocked it down to a 3.5 star.

This is the FIRST book in the Bragg series.
Leaving behind the sheltered life of a French convent, Miranda journeyed to the New World and an arraged marriage to a prosperous Texan rancher. Arriving in America, the innocent European met her fiance's freind Derek Bragg, a rough-hewn Texas Ranger, whose harsh manner and candid comments about her beauty enraged the shy miss. Although Bragg fought to deny his feelings for his charge, he knew that he was falling in love with her. Miranda, too, was struggling with her desire for her escort as they trekked across the treacherous wilderness. Drawn to the lawman--enflamed by his raw masculine virility--will Miranda sacrifice her innocence to the fire blazing out of control in her heart?

Wrenched from a sheltered life in a French convent, Miranda was on her way to the New World, betrothed by her English father to a Texas rancher she had never met. It seemed worse than a sentence of death! Shaking with fear, she arrived in America to be greeted by her fiancé's friend, Derek Bragg, a ruggedly handsome, half-Apache Texas Ranger, whose coarse manners and frank appreciation of her young beauty enraged her.
Although Bragg fought to deny his feelings for his charge, he knew he was falling hopelessly in love. Miranda, too, was struggling with new desires, and as they made their way across the treacherous wilderness, she was drawn to her protector -- captivated by his raw masculine virility -- so bold, so shocking... so sinfully irresistible.
