An intricate look at Dr. Kinsey's sex research of the 40s and 50s at Indiana University. Although this novel is fiction, you would never guess it. It reads like a biography. Hard to put down!

I really liked this book. It was very thought provoking, distrubing, and an illustration of the importance of science in our lives. It also deals with the topic of obession and where obession ultimatly brings us.

I am a fan of Tom Boyle work and I appreciated his style in this book of addressing the once-taboo topic of Alfred Kinsey's research through the eyes of a young man who experiences his sexual and social awakening while working for Kinsey, but I could not get through this one. It sat by the nightstand as a reading in progress for more than a month, but I found myself eventually reading a few pages at a time before putting it down. I finally put it down for good just 2/3 of the way through the story. It is rare that I do not finish a book, but I just could not see the promise of the denouement justifying the effort to get through this one.

I love everything I've read by Boyle so far. This book is written from the prospective of Dr. Alfred Kinsey's (1st sexologist) first researcher. It tells an interesting tale of the Kinsey's & the other researchers & their wives & how far the "research" goes in & out of the circle. The protaganist is a little clueless & irritating at times, but that's part of the fun of the book. It is interesting to look back on this time in our history, the 1940s, & how the country regarded sex at that time. I really enjoyed this fast-paced book.

Enjoyable read. It urged me to look into the actual life of Kinsey.

I've enjoyed all of his books. He takes a real person and event that may be somewhat non-traditional and writes a novel around it. You still end up with a realistic notion of the person and the event/life. A movie had been produced on the same topic as this book--I'm going to watch that next. He's a good writer and easy to follow.

Interesting account of Dr. Kinsey and his sex research.
Released in the late 1940s and early '50s, the Kinsey Reports, the compilations of a scientific study that attempted to quantify male and female sexual behavior, shocked Americans with revelations about their sexuality. Indiana University professor Alfred Kinsey's obsessive belief that the human need for sex is little different from animal instinct...

This book was pretty "out there" but I enjoyed it. I was in college in the 60's when The Kinsey Report came out so I could really recognize some of the characters' thought processes. Not everyone is going to enjoy the story, but Boyle's writing is really funny.

"A fascinating, fictional rendering of what life might have been like doing research for infamous sex professor Alfred Kinsey."

It was just ok for me. I just could not get into it.
