Helpful Score: 2
Another dandy installment in the JP Beaumont series. Hard-driving, fast-paced, action-packed...all the usual cliches, but true! A fun and fast read, with a couple good little twists along the way. Highly recommended. --Jim
I've read it twice, now I think it's time to share. JP Beaumont is always entertaining
Another JP Beaumont winner.
Best one yet!
Here it is the year 2024 and I recently discovered this series. The random book I read out of order never explained where the money came from, it just kept referring to it. So, I found the first three books at my local library and dug in. It is difficult to read books from the mid 1980's and try to forget that there were no cell phones. I do like the characters, the stories behind the stories but jeez, imagine if a detective slept with all the women he meets on a case?
I know it is all for fun, but I hope it does not permeate every book moving forward. This 2nd book in the series was good, until the flower delivery arrived. Really? SPOILER ALERT! The guy is waiting to hear from the murderer and doesn't question who is at the door?
Anyway, I will keep going, I love the attorney Ames and hopefully he will be developed more as I go along. Some of the series is difficult to find and I really don't want to keep paying Amazon, so if any of you reading this come across a copy pm me and I will gladly take it off your hands.

Enjoyed very much, like her J.P. Beaumont character.
just love this series!
A JP Beaumont Mystery. It was like a scene from a movie: the beautiful blond screaming on a Washington beach, a dead man lying at her feet: the dashing homicide detective arriving to offer kindness and solace to the distressed lady. What it wasn't was a restful vacation for Beaumont. And now a murderous mix of politics and passion is turning Beau's holiday into a nightmare.

Good story, kept me interested. A satisfying conclusion.
ok not great
A gripping tale of bloodlust and terror from the New York Times bestselling author of Exit Wounds
It was a scene from a "slasher flick" -- a beautiful woman's terrified screams piercing the air, a dead body sprawled at her feet, blood staining the pristine sands of a Washington beach. But the blood is real, and the victim won't be rising when a director yells, "Cut!" In one horrific instant, a homicide detective's well-earned holiday has become a waking nightmare. Suddenly a lethal brew of passion, madness, and politics threatens to do more than poison J.P. Beaumont's sleep; it's dragging the dedicated Seattle cop into the path of a killer whose dark hunger is rapidly becoming an obsession.
