Informed Risk is one of Robyn Carr's earlier works. It was written in the late 1980s and it shows. This story wasn't as good as the Virgin River series, which has more depth and better writing. Informed Risk has a decent hero, a fireman, with a heart of gold but the heroine was wishy washy and for me, not likable. She is also quite remniscent of the heroine in the second Virgin River story - same damsel in distress with a cute child (in this case two children) in tow after a jerk of a husband refused to be the husband and father he needed to be. The best part of the story was the hero's family, especially his Irish father. That character was quite entertaining. The ending of the story wasn't satisfying as it leaves quite a number of questions unresolved. This isn't a long story like most of the Virgin River stories. This is about half to one quarter of a typical Virgin River story.

A Hero For Sophie Jones has the type of heroine I despise. The overly sweet heroine who is fairly innocent and only sees the good in everyone. The hero, appropriately named Sin, is of course your usual rich, tall, dark and handsome man who is wildly experienced in the matters of love. The story is predictable, but I've read worse.

The story for informed risk felt very rushed. I felt the romance was not well developed and was just shallow. I liked the kids, they were adorable, and his family, but I didn't care for either of the main characters. Overall, after all the hype I hear about Robyn Carr, I was disappointed.
