Well, I never.
Yes, you have, Charlotte. Twice.

Charlotte Beck is a beautiful, rich, spoiled American in the 1800s. She is also wild and impetuous. Everywhere she goes, trouble follows. Alexander Hambly is an astronomer from an honored English family who desperately needs money to stave off financial ruin. When Charlotte literally falls into his arms, the sparks fly. They are attracted to each other but cannot stand each other. Every time they meet, disaster follows. After seeing them together, Charlottes father decides that an arranged marriage between the two would be beneficial to all. Despite their protests, the deed is done and the fun begins. This book was an absolutely delightful read. A wholesome story that delivers plenty of romance and fun, I read it in a days time. This is the third book in Kathleen YBarbos Women of the West series. Although I have not read the first two books in the series, I did not find that to be a problem with understanding the story line. However, the book was so good that I will have to get the other two now just to see what Ive missed!

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for an honest review.

I can't seem to get involved in this book. I have tried a few times to read it and I get no sense of what the book is about. Maybe it's just me on this book. I wish I had left it off my list of books to read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Young American girl, Charlotte Beck travels to England with her stepmother to visit her grandfather. While there, she pull some hilarious antics which cause her father, back in Colorado, to make serious decisions concerning her future. A future which will tie her to the boring Alex Hambly. Charlotte uses every trick in her book and finally gets her father to agree to let her go to four years of college before settling down in marriage. What ensues is a hilarious, sometimes laugh-out-loud account of a young woman who is not quite ready to grow up.

The reader cant help but feel sorry for Alex and I quickly grew to love his responsible mannerisms and gentlemanly behavior.

My Rating: 4 Stars

I enjoyed the book and I plan to read it again one day. I have to be honest though, the reason that I did not give this book five stars is because I did eventually grow tired of Charlottes outrageous behavior. However I found the story humorous and did find myself having to smother my laughs while reading it next to my sleeping husband.

A fun, light-hearted read. If you dont expect anything too serious, youll find it highly enjoyable.

Many thanks to Waterbrook Multnomah Publishers for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book for review purposes.

I didn't realize this was the 3rd in series when I read it. I prefer to read books in order, but this could easily be a stand-alone. Historical fiction romances are my favorite, and having settings in both England and the American west just made this book more exciting for me. There was quite a bit of humor that had my husband giving me looks sometimes. Daniel seemed to know his daughter very well, and I'm glad Alex finally stood strong against her. Very good book.

This was a really fun story. Right from the very beginning you become involved with the characters and they keep you entertained until the very end. Charlotte was a real hoot. Her feisty ways made you just want to keep reading to find out what she would do next. Alex was the consummate hero. I loved how he handled Charlotte but also the way he stepped up to the plate in handling his family as well. There were some moments between him and Charlotte that just made me sigh! I also enjoyed the character of Daniel Beck. He knew his daughter and knew what was best for her. I liked that he wasn't fool easily. This was the third book in a series but I didn't feel lost not having read the other two. If you enjoy a lighthearted, fun, feel good, uplifting story, then I suggest you pick up The Inconvenient Marriage of Charlotte Beck. It will keep you smiling. A thank you goes to the LibraryThing for providing this complimentary copy for my review.

The heroine was very young and idealistic, and kept getting herself into crazy situations. This is the conclusion of The Women of the West series by Kathleen Y'Barbo.
