Very helpful relaxation techniques when I had my baby. It made the whole thing much more comfortable.

Great book, but I would suggest starting with "The Birth Book" or "The Pregnancy Book" by the Sears' or "Birthing From Within" over Ina May's book, as lovely as it is. Would strongly recommend skimming bits of it at the local bookshop. It does have some very important statistics and some very useful tips as well as a nice collection of birth stories throughout Ina May's career as a midwife in Tennessee.

Excellent book! If I could only recommend one book for all pregnant women to read, it would be this one. Great combination of inspiring birth stories at the beginning, and good, solid factual information about the birth process, VBAC, and how our bodies were made to grow, birth, and nourish our babies in the second half.

This is a book that every woman who gets pregnant should read. It opens your eyes to the profit-thinking goals of hospitals and how so many different souces in the world try to scare women into thinking childbirth is something that should be feared.

This is the ONLY book you need if you are expecting a baby. The first half is Positive Birth Stories, counteracting the negative messages we hear through our culture and the media about birth, and the second half is up-to-date info on hospital procedures and their benefits/risks. Also methods to achieve a natural birth and how the body works naturally to deliver without intervention. As a long time doula, I recommend this book to EVERY pregnant mother, regardless of birth place.

Best childbirth book I have ever read. I have had 6 childbirths and this book was my favorite read. I just enjoyed this one so much. It seemed to cover everything that should be in a book about birthing. Especially for homebirths.
