I like the general permission to experiment that the author encourages the reader to take in their cooking. I also found suggested combinations of seasonings for different flavors from around the world helpful. The actual recipes seemed kind of fussy as if you were trying to cook like some 5 star chef rather than for kids. I just want to get dinner on the table. Vanilla beans combined with exotic fruits and pancetta aren't necessarily inspiring to me.
