i didn't enjoy this book. i expected it to be pretty heavy in the paranormal aspect...NOT. Holling talks about the magic the characters possess, but doesn't show this power in use. I found Deidra to be somewhat mean in her comments and treatment of Stephen. My Immortal Protector just was not my cup of tea.

This book started out with a great idea but got lost along the way. Heavy use of supernatural and magic didn't flesh out the storyline - only hindered what could have been a good book. I'd pass if I were you.

This is by far Miss Holling's best work. This was so much more than your average romance. There was action, and a bit of violence but nothing over the top. The love story was real and also not over the top. This was an engrossing and wonderful story and a great way to paranormal. She eases you into the idea that all of this world can truly exist to the point that you're not spending half of the time you're reading trying to wrap your head around it all.

Loved the story. A continuation of a family of witches. Kept very late hours finishing this one. Look forward to next one.

I really enjoyed this book. Although Im not a big fan of Historical Vamp romance, this one actually held my attention and kept it. I loved the story and the characters were very endearing to me. I will be looking for the next book in this series. Overall a good fast read.

A witch that can talk with animals, a gift she hates and tries to block from her life. An evil man that considers himself a servant of god hunts her and burns "witches" through out Scotland. He has hunted and taunted her since she was twelve, she can't live with the constant fear. She searches for the mythical Blood Witch, who may be able to remove her "curse". She travels far and meets up with a drunken handsome crippled man (in more ways than one) from her childhood that will change her life. They embark on a journey filled with terrors, triumphs and awakening hearts.
I picked this book up at a book sale not knowing the author. I am so glad I did I found the story engaging and was unable to put it down. It is a light quick read with "real" characters.

Good paranormal story
Deidra MacKay is a witch with Dr. Doolittle-type abilities. Unfortunately, her abilities (and her lack of control over them as a child) resulted in the unwanted attention of a witch hunter, who will stop at nothing to burn her. In order to escape the attention of the witch hunter as well as all the farm animals constantly trying to converse with her, Deidra sets out to find a blood witch who she understands can take away her ability. She finds a traveling companion in Stephen Ross, a cripple who wants the blood witch to fix his back. Fortunately for Deidra, Stephen's problem is with his back and does not affect below his waist. That pesky witch hunter keeps thwarting their plans though!
I did not think I would like this book. I am embarrassed to say that I did. It is somewhat paranormal (there are witches and vampires), somewhat historical fiction (characters say "Aye" instead of "yes") and somewhat romance. Despite the cheesiness I thought My Immortal Protector was good for what it is - escapist fantasy fiction.

Am trading it for shelf space for a story that is a good re-read, this one is not.

It is a pretty average formula vampire romance. Good for a couple hours of enjoyable escape, won't be a revelation to anyone who is familiar with the genre.
