Immortal Adam Black is cursed by the Faery Queen who strips him of his immortality and makes him invisible. The only person who can see him is Gabrielle O'Callaghan. Gabby is able to see both the mortal and faery worlds. She's also been raised to never trust the faeries. Helping Adam Black regain his immortality and stop the conspiracy that threatens the queen may just get her killed.
I've been wanting to read Adam Black's story ever since reading the first Highlander book. It didn't disappoint. The book has some very funny scenes and a great ending. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Adam Black, prince of the Tuatha Dé Danaan, that's fairies to most of us, has been stripped of his immortality and power by his queen and left to live as a mortal. She has also cursed him with the féth fiada, which means that no one can see him, hear him, or feel him. This is definitely not the life that a 6000 year old immortal expects.
Gabrielle O'Callaghan is a Sidhe seer from a long line of the same. That has not been a good thing as the fairy tend to carry off all that can see them. So Gabrielle has been taught to never betray the fact that she can see the Sidhe, as well as to hate and fear them.
When Adam finds Gabrielle and realizes that she can see him, he is elated. He now has someone to aid him as he works break the curse and return to immortal life and power. And it is a bonus that the Sidhe seer is such a tempting morsel. The only problem is that Gabrielle is not willing to help, but that shouldn't be hard to over come. After all, he has seduced innumerable women in his 6000 years.
Gabrielle is doing her best to send this unwanted person on his way, but it is not going well. For instance, when she talks to him, her friends think she is talking to the air, since they can't see him. And the fact that he is 6 feet 6 inches of rippling muscles, golden skin and long black hair is pretty distracting, too.
This is the sixth book in Karen Monings Highlander series and it is probably better to read these books in the order they are written, as actions and characters from other books come into this one.
It is a lovely romance with interesting characters and truly unique problem for the lovers. After all an immortal fairy and a normal young woman have a few issues to deal with, when they fall in love.

Adam Black the blackest of fae fairies! Oh yeah! A real fairy tale that has its Happily-Ever-After!
I LOVE Moning's Highlander series!!! You don't have to read them in order but I would recommend it and I enjoyed it better that way. Everyone/everything ties in better together.
You won't be disappointed in this book or her others.

A little disappointing but still good. I expected this book to be extraordinary because Moning seems to always write about Adam Black. it was still a good read but the ending is a little bittersweet. Because of the ending, my favorite book of the series, #3, also changes.
MINOR SPOILER
It still ends happily ever after but more like a regular mortal HEA. I like the immortal and magical HEA's.

Romance, very descriptive sexual scenes. I didn't like the character as well as the other stories that are the same nature as this one. I believe you can read these books of order, but references of characters are made in other books and someone might get confused. Light reading.

I was so looking forward to reading Adam's story....I feel let down. The ending of this story is stupid and unbelievable. I don't want to spoil it but its not what my choice would have been. The "you have no soul" parts, which are many get old really quick. All in all the other stories are so much better than this one was.

I love this book! It's the first Moning Highlander book I read ( I had to go back and read the others), and it's my favorite. Adam is - whoo!! The story kept me engrossed, and the ending was so touching, I re-read just the ending many times.

I love this series. Time traveling was never so much fun! I was hooked when I read the teaser at the end of the last book that said "besides no woman can reisist a little fairy tail..." (No that is not a typo!) Adam Black at his finest. I believe this book should be read as part of the series to give the best impact.

Adam Black, sensual immortal has women in all centuries falling into his bed. He is cursed by the Fae Queen to live invisibly as a mortal with almost no powers. Gabrielle O'Callahan can see faery, but fears she will be killed if they discover she can. When Adam realizes she sees him, he enlists her help to let his Queen know she is in danger from a fae council member who wishes harm to her and the mortal world. Adam's seduction attempts Gabby manages to avoid especially when she realizes he is using her to regain his immortality. The way this book ends is so wonderful. Great writing is very hard to put down.
This is only the third book I have read by Moning and I have to agree that she does do the same thing over and over again. But since this is only my third time, I am not quite sick of it yet. I'm sure if I read the series in order and this is my sixth book of the same thing I wouldn't like it either.
That being said, it was just such a fun book. Adam (aka Puck) was just so silly and had the worse pick-up lines. I'm pretty sure that was on purpose and I couldn't help but laugh at him. I enjoyed Gabby. She had a lot spirit and was such a survivor. I also love that she beat him senseless all the time.
The side characters were great. It didn't matter that I haven't read Chloe and Gwen's stories, Moning gave enough background information to have everything make sense.
It's pretty lighthearted, cheesy but a great fun read.

I enjoy reading Moning's Highlander series. She weaves a great romance with action, adventure and a little faery magic - especially when the faery is a 6 and half foot man that oozes sex appeal. Adam Black has intrigued me from the first book - Beyond the Highland Mist - where he is a not so nice character that tries to keep the main couple apart. He has been thrown into the other books as a secondary character - and now he finally has his own book. You get to learn more about him and what makes him tick - and that he is not just a selfish fae. I loved to read his interactions with his heroine, Gabrielle. I enjoyed reading the book - I found it hard to put down - to do pesky things like going to sleep or work. I recommend the book and series.
This was definitely my least favorite books in the series so far. Especially since they keep stressing how the Fae are aliens without a soul and it's their understanding of advance technology that allows them to do what they do.
Puck is one of my favorite fairy-tale characters of all time and I can't say that I care for the author's version of him. Adam Black may be hot, but that's until he opens his mouth. Some of the things he says while trying to seduce Gabby are just so corny that I wanted to gag and found myself rolling my eyes repeatedly. And, call me crazy, but I don't find getting gifts of items stolen from department stores and jewelers to be romantic.
After reading this book, I'm also wondering if the author will ever have a lead heroine that doesn't start out as a virgin while the guy was a raving man-slut before meeting her.
The author is also getting redundant in her anti-climatic closings of her books. (I've just read up to this book in the series within a couple of weeks, so I've been over-exposed to her plots.) They're the kind of endings where the hero is separated from the heroine and then she goes into mope-mode after his disappearance because she's so grief-stricken. And then they get back together and it's all hunky-dory.
Needless to say, I was disappointed in her ruination of one of my favorite Fae characters at the end of this one. It's like declawing a kitty.

Karen Marie Moning continues her Highlander series with the love story of Adam and Gabby. I LOVED this chapter in the series. Her stories are romantic and sexy. The hero is strong, but the heroine is stronger. There is intrigue and action as Adam and Gabby fight for the heart that Adam never thought he had. You can't go wrong if you pick up this book. Enjoy!

Not my favorite highlander book of hers, but still, a mini vacation from reality with an especially happy ending - can't complain.
Not my favorite book of the series, but still a good story. The story of the feisty Gabrielle and Adam Black does introduce the Unseelie Hunters and Darroc into the storyline. Characters from the Fever series, which now I refer back to and remember that the MacKeltar clan played an important part in the storyline as well.
I didn't realize these two series were intertwined, which makes me think I should reread the Fever series with the background gained in the Highlander series. Intriguing.

This book has the same tingling excitement of a historic romance, but sat in modern times. I didn't know if I would like a book based on Faeries, but it will grab your attention right from the very start.

I didn't like the way it started out (I thought it was too strange and romance-novel predictable), but became hooked about half way through and couldn't put it down!
Wecome to the world of the Fae. Powerful, immortal and immoral Adam Black, the most dangerous of the Fae, is condemned by his Queen to become Mortal and invisible because of his facination with with humans.
Enter Gabrielle O'Callaghan, a law student with ancient Celtic blood flowing through her veins. She is a Sidhe-Seer, one of the few humans who can see the Fae. Her blood alone condems her to death by the Fae, but can she prove to be Adam's salvation?

I would rate this book 10 stars if I could. Karen pulls you into her world and will have you wanting to stay there forever. Plus, her sexy hero, Adam Black is to die for. Honestly, my second favorite book in the Highlander series...second only to Kiss of the Highlander.
This is part of a series, but it can be read with no prior books and not lose any of the plot. It's a semi- graphic erotic fantasy with a human woman and an elvin lover, and all about their attempts to communicate across much cultural misunderstanding. Not to mention blood feuds, time traveling enemies, flying gargoyles (or magical pterodactyls... I'm not sure.)
FROM BACK COVER: BEWARE: lethally seductive alpha male of immense strength and dark eroticism, do not look at him. Do not touch him. Do not be tempted. Do not be seduced.
With his long, black hair and dark, mesmerizing eyes, Adam Black is Trouble with a capital T. Immortal, arrogant, and intensely sensual, he is the consummate seducer, free to roam across time and continents in pursuit of his insatiable desires. That is, until a curse strips him of his immortality and makes him invisible, a cruel fate for so irresistible a man. With his very life at stake, Adam's only hope for survival is in the hands of the one woman who can actually see him.
Enter law student Gabrielle O'Callaghan, who is cursed with the ability to see both worlds: Mortal and Faery. Thus begins a long, dangerous seduction. Because despite his powerful strength and unquenchable hungers, Adam refuses to take a woman by force. Instead, he will tease his way into Gabby's bed and make her want him just as he wants her.
Butas Adam's quest to regain his immortality plunges them into a world of timeless magic and the deadly politics of the Faery queen's court, the price of surrender could be their very lives. Unless they can thwart the conspiracy that threatens both mortal and Faery realms... and give them a shot at a destiny few mortals ever know: glorious, wondrous, endless love.

I have enjoyed each book in this series. This one was even better - the main character was Adam Black, who played a part in the earlier books but the character was never completely developed. I also liked how some of the characters were brought back in this book so you got an idea of what has happened to them since their stories ended.
Wow! I read some of the reviews for this book and almost dismissed it. I am so glad I didn't. I was happy to see Adam get his due, both the good and the bad. Great Book, Great Series.
