Having read many books about polygamy, all from the female point of view, it was very enlightening to read about the experiences of a boy raised in polygamy. Never feeling like he had a "true" place in the family, the 27th of 31 children felt lost and unloved, He was constantly seeking the love and acknowledgment of a emotionally distance and physically cruel father. His life journey to full blown hatred and a desire to kill his father is a compelling story. His journey out of the despair caused by his childhood and the circumstances of his birth and upbringing into a love of God, a wife and a child is both heart wrenching and heart warming.
