One of the best action stories that I have read in years. The hero manages to get into and out of more impossible situations than any five people could servive, but it makes for a non-stop read. I've ordered two more of Matt Reily's books and hope they remain true to form.

If you are looking for some great fast paced action this is a great book. You know you are in for action when the book is divided into sections called confrontations.

"Grabs you like seeing a glock pointed at your head. If you want action--and I mean serious action--then pick up Matthew Reilly's ICE STATION." says Richard Marcinko. I couldn't agree more. The crew of Americans must protect themselves in Antartica and save the Wilkes station. Good luck!

This book took a while to get into for me, but quickly became a page-turner with a quick thinking hero, humor, military stuff and a doomsday plot.

This was my intro to this author and it was awesome! I've since read all the Scarecrow books. They are all awesome, but I like this one the best. It was my first experience with a 30 pp firefight! Unbelievable. This book is like a roller coaster that never slows down. It pulls you in, throws you around and spits you out 528 pages later. I stayed up into the wee hours to finish this book. I was a mess the next day, but I just couldn't put it down! It was worth it. Go Scarecrow!

This book is a fast-paced thrill ride from the opening chapter. The protagonist, Shane Schofield, USMC, blends the personalities and skills of Indiana Jones, James Bond, and John McClane from "Die Hard" into one appealing character whose implausible escapes from death make up the bulk of the story's plot. He and his team have been ordered to secure an Antarctic research station, unaware that a global conspiracy is underway to prevent their success.

The book doesn't pretend to be a guide to the USMC, its weapons, the Antarctic or its inhabitants (killer whales generally don't feed on humans), or even globalization. It's just a fun, easy read for those who like action adventure novels. This book contains more detail than the past two novels I've read (7 Deadly Wonders, 6 Sacred Stones) and Schofield appears in a couple of Reilly's other early works (Area 7, Scarecrow).

If you are looking for non-stop action, suspense, realistic weapons, and solid stories, Matt Reilly always delivers.

Ice Station is an Artic adventure full of twists and surprises. From a buried and forgotten military base to giant mutated walruses to a string of twists and double crosses, this book is a book which is hard to lay down.

The characters are solid and the storyline is enthralling. The writing is tight and descriptive with plenty of surprises. All in all, an excellent read.

I read a lot of thrillers and have enjoyed a few by this author, but the storyline of this novel was not believable in the slightest. I quit reading around page 65.

Intense action. Slightly futuristic take on a secret battle between the elite forces of three nations over what may be a discovery of alien technology in the Antarctic. A fun read.

This is a very exciting book--the action never stops! The only part I found kind of boring is there are a LOT of descriptions of military stuff--ranks and weapons. I kind of skipped over those parts, but I enjoyed the story a lot.

Wow! This is a fast-paced, action-filled book with the hero in one impossible situation after another making it a hard-to-put-down book. It is set in Antarctica with a secret other countries are willing to kill for -and do. What's going on at this ice station?

Most books about superheros feature characters with special powers or bionic limbs. Ice Station features a superhero named Scarecrow. But Scarecrow is not a typical superhero, he is a United States Marine.

Lt. Shane Schofield, Scarecrow, is the commander of a Marine Recon Unit. Just 12 men, but they are assigned the task of rescuing and holding a scientific station in Antarctica which has reportedly come under attack. Wilkes Ice Station has found something important. Something many countries are willing to chance war over. A small, hidden war at the bottom of the world.

Lt. Schofield is not really a superhero, but just a Marine. One who has human failings, trust in his troops, and as many lives as a cat. This is an exciting story with many twists, turns and surprises. There is honor and pride here, but there is also murder, duplicity, double-crosses, hidden agendas, surprise weapons and opportunities. This book is hard to put down and leaves one anxious to see what else Matt Reilly has written.

I highly recommend this Military Thriller!
