This is the third story in the Dragon Knight series and I am really enjoying it so far. This story is the king of the dragons who is also a shifter and how he finds his mate. As the king of the dragons, he is able to actually shift into a black dragon. the heroine of the story was kidnapped as a child and sold into slavery. She was expected to be food for a new drogonet, but instead the baby dragon thought of her as his mother. It was a lovely parent/child relationship between the woman and the dragon. This series contains a great deal of fantasy plot surrounding the central romance.

Fantasy erotic romance from Samhain Publishing, sequel to Ladies of the Lair. Roland the Black Dragon is saved by a former slave girl and her best friend, the baby Ice Dragon Tor. Unknown to Lana, Roland is the King of Draconia. Lana has royal origens, and doesn't even know it. The story definately reads like a fairy tale. The sex scenes are steamy. Lana is even more than Roland could have wished for. The book is fair. The next in series features Roland's brother, Nico, The Prince of Spies.

I know this book is the third in the series, but I read it first and did not have any problem following the story line. I will definitely go back and read the preceding two books, but only because the characters intrigued me, not because I felt I missed something by not having read them. Although characters from previous stories make an appearance, you do not have to know their background to thoroughly enjoy this book.

This author pulls you into a fantasy world using relationships that you can relate to and emotions that are universal. She explains just enough background for you to bond with the characters without taking the details to the dull extreme. After all, this IS fantasy.

If you like books about dragons who shift into sexy men, women who fight for what they believe in, and steamy sex scenes, then this is a book you'll enjoy.

Lana is a slave thrown into a cage with a stolen ice Dragon egg. She keeps three fires burning to keep the egg warm. When she touches the shell she finds she and the dragonet can converse telepathically. They bond and escape after he hatches. While she and the baby Dragon Tor are out flying she sees her former captors bring down a black Dragon. She and Tor rescue him and she uses her dragon healing powers to save his life. She doesn't know the black Dragon is Roland the king of all dragons and a dragon shifter.
What ensues is a great adventure.
