I am a big Tess Gerritsen fan.....especially of her "Rizzoli & Isles" series!!! Really enjoyed the suspense in this book. Always love a book that keeps me wanting ro read to the point where I lose track of time! Thoroughly enjoyed this one!

I've never read this author or series before, but diving into this thriller was no problem. So many elements in this books were truly and realistically terrifying, like being stranded in the freezing cold with no way to contact anyone. The mystery and drama that unfolded after that kept me turning the pages long after I had decided to put the book down and move on to other things. Don't be surprised if you have nightmares after you read it.

It was a good page turner for people familiar with the Rizzoli and Isles series and characters. Interesting to see them in a different backdrop ( northwest, snowy desolate area) instead of Boston. One of the sort of books you stay up until 3 am to see what is happening and why. Do not read when you have an early start the next day!

Although this 8th book in the series featuring Boston medical examiner Maura Isles and homicide detective Jane Rizzoli is a very quick read, it lacks the depth and complexity of other novels featuring this duo. The setting in icy Wyoming and the plot involving a polygamous cult separate the two colleagues and make this book less about their team approach to solving murders but more about Maura's harrowing experiences while there.
While there is a mystery to solve and the story is suspenseful, I much prefer the Rizzoli and Isles novels that involve a murder investigation and the forensic details that I've come to know and love in the series.
I definitely hope that Gerritsen returns to the medical thriller formula that has made her previous books a hit with me.

I did not realize the book was one of a series, so I did not know the characters. Although some background was provided, without a more complete knowledge of the characters and how they got to this point in their lives, it left you guessing as to how they got to this point in their lives. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book and "could fill in the blanks somewhat", but I think I would have given it a higher rating had I been familiar with them. As it was, I was left with questions, which I assume would be answered in subsequent books.

Although I have not read any Rizzoli and Isles novels for a long time, and don't care for the TV series, I could not put this book down! Some of the reviews are lukewarm, but I read the whole thing in less than 24 hours! I had to find out what was going on in the settlement of Kingdom Come! Polygamous cults are not new but this one set in the ice cold mountains of Wyoming certainly is! There was a long story line of wilderness survival which I thought was a bit drawn out; however, in general, the book was fast-paced and riveting.

I found this book interesting and a good enough read, but it lacked the intensity and plot twists and turns of some of Gerritsen's earlier novels. It's not a bad book, just not as good as some of her others.

But everything goes wrong, stranded and lost with strangers,they manage to find a village in the middle of nowhere. 41 people have vanished into thin air and left behind a village with nothing but ghosts and questions. After an accident with one of her group, she tries to hike out to safety to get help. Only to find herself in a much dire situation. Fleeing for her life with her capture turned hero. She manages to survive in the wilderness and find the answers to the missing village and the 30 year history of lies and deceit that claimed to many victims. Loved it! I am hooked on these Rizzoli and Isles books. This one was the absolute best so far, although a lot more Isles than Rizzoli but brain thumping absolutely. Need to save for a while before I repost, for my children (adults) to read.

A spur of the moment trip becomes a terrifying nightmare for medical examiner Maura Isles. Far from home she finds herself and her traveling companions in a remote village which seems to have become a ghost town. Where are all the people and why did they leave so suddenly. The storyline was good, but I was a bit disappointed in this one because the suspense fell flat since I knew nothing would happen to Maura Isles, one of the main characters. Putting the two principles in these extraordinary, life-threatening situations, book after book, is getting old for me.
I hope the next book features other characters in those predicaments and lets Jane and Maura get back to being medical examiner and detective.

I've loved all of the Rizzoli & Isles books (and the TV show!) and this was one of the best! My only complaint would be that I didn't want it to end!

Very gripping and suspenseful story with all of the surprises that fans of the Jane Rizzoli series have come to expect and enjoy.

I loved this book! Disappointed by her lover, Maura Isles decides to accompany an attractive man and his friends on a weekend ski trip. And so innocently begins a tale of terror, murder and a manhunt with Maura as the hunted. Taking place in the middle of a blizzard in the mountains of Wyoming, the story never lets up the suspense. I simply could not put it down. Great read!

Wow. This was not one of Ms. Gerritsen's better novels. I rarely quit before the end of a book but I only went 100 pages with this one. I have too many worthwhile books to start.
She must be busy with the new series on television (which I absolutely love!) and threw this together to be done with it. It was repetitious and full of filler. For example: On one page she said that the "wind blew sharp as a pin", the the very next page she said the "wind blew sharp as glass". Believe it or not, a few pages later she was back to describing that nasty old "wind" again. In the very least the editor dropped the ball.
I felt constantly that things were added or really stretched to add the pages up. Big disappointment. So, okay, I know it's not expected to be award winning literature, but I know she can do so much better. I hope this isn't an effort she plans to repeat.

Stunning!!! I've read all Tess Gerritsen's books in this series and this was by far the best. Hard to put down. Very suspenseful, terrifying and on-the-edge-of-your-seat read.

This was another fantastic story from Gerritsen! I could not put it down...read it in a couple days. Maura Isles was the major character in this book and the story line grabbed me on the first page and held me until the rather surprising ending. Can't wait to read the next one!

I love all the Rizzoli and Isles books. This story focuses more on Maura as the last few books have. It keeps you in suspend until the end and the story was very well written. This is a book that grabs you and doesn't let go until you are finished. Plus, this book was so enjoyable to read, it was a fast read as with all the Rizzoli and Isles books.

My wife watches a great deal of television. She discovered Rizzoli & Isles on TNT. We started watching it and liked it. As usual, I then looked up the author of the books upon which it is based. I ordered the first one from Paper Back Swap. I liked it and proceeded to put together the entire series to date. Each book has an interesting twist, or several. In this one, Isles is way out of her comfort zone. She encounters a mysterious cult, and disguised heros and villains. If you like mysteries, these books will satisfy.
