On page 15, the author writes "...Prout show[ed]..that the weights of the heavier elements were exact multiples of th weight of hydrogen. For example, the weight of carbon is six times the weight of hydrogen [!!!!!], the weight of nitrogen is 14 times..hydrogen..potassium is 40 times the weight of hydrogen..." I know this is wrong because the author (or editor) corrected it in the paperback version that came out later, but if even I knew it was wrong (there's a lot in this book I don't understand), any halfway decent academic scientist should have caught this before publication.
