Lucy Shoremans husband Artie is a cheater. When Lucy learns this she confronts him only to have him confess there have been two other affairs during their four year marriage. To cope with Arties infidelity Lucy leaves home and immerses herself in work for six months to deal with his betrayal. Then she receives a middle of the night phone call from her mother, hes gravely ill. Artie needs you. He is your husband still, after all. And its very bad form to leave a dying husband.

Lucy returns home but still cant bring herself to forgive Artie. After more than a few drinks Lucy picks up the phone, calls up all the former sweethearts in Arties little black book and announces, Artie Shoreman is dying, Please call to schedule your turn at his deathbed.

What happens next surprises everyone, the sweethearts begin to show up. From the young, tattooed and pierced Elba to Arties former high school teacher, the elderly Mrs. Dutton with many in between. An unlikely friendship begins to form with some of these women and youre pulled along an emotional roller coaster with Lucy.

Ashers writing is truly amazing. I laughed, I cried and it seemed that I could truly feel Lucys emotion in her words. I couldnt believe how fast I got to the end of the book. Along with Lucys road to forgiveness there are two other story lines that develop bringing a surprise ending to this incredible story about love.

This is the first book that has compelled me to write a review of any kind. My Husbands Sweethearts made me laugh, it made me cry and most importantly it made me think. It made me think of how I view death and what really makes a family. I could not put this book down once I started it and not once did it dissapoint me. As a matter of fact, I am planning on reading it a second time.

A humorous story of a woman who has left her husbank because he cheated on her. Now he is dying of a heart ailment. He gives her his little black book and asks that she contract his "sweethearts" that ended on a bad note. Her living room becomes a waiting room for all who wants to visit with Artie. Another secret he had was that he has a son. He wants Lucy to contact him so that can get to know each other. Fast paced novel that I enjoyed.

By far one of the most satisfing books i have read in awhile for entertainment. This is my first time with this author, I love her way with words. Her chapters are not real long, the flow was perfect. This is a book you can sit down to read and before you know what has happened, a couple hours have passed. The story is about Lucy, she has been married for 4 years and found out her husband has "retained" some of his sweethearts from before her time and also found some new ones along the way to add. He has also kept them all listed neatly in a little book with a coding system. Lucy has left, she's been gone 6 months, her mother who is wildly funny, is calling her home to be with her husband who is dying of cancer. Lucy is soul reaching, caring, funny, and has nothing but revenge in mind. I honestly sat on the sofa and laughed out loud at what she has decided to do and how it all comes together. This novel is a wonderful read, it will make you cry and make you laugh and make you glad that you picked it up.

Fresh and fun to read, but also prompted many conversations! This is exactly the kind of book I enjoy the most. Makes you think, but still relaxing and entertaining.
Great writing style is easy to follow, though the story line is very complex.

The perfect revenge. I honestly laughed till i almost wet my pants. What an ingenious idea. Every woman who has been in the position of catching her husband cheating will wish she'd of thought of this should this situitation present itself.
Woman catches hubby cheating and leaves. Hubby finds out he is dying of heart failure. Wife comes back to care for him. Hubby gives wife "little black book" then has the nerve to ask her to let all the "other" special women he was involved with that he is ill and wants to see them one last time before it is to late. I truely thought, as the story progressed, that the wife would soften up a bit and give in but she was one tuff lady...she went thru with her plan. Very funny read. Brillant plan and so well written. I love a novel that keeps a smile on my face through out the read and has me still smiling at the mention of it.

This is most likely one of the best books I will read this entire year. The characters are interesting, the plot is intriguing, and the story line moves right along. It makes me wonder what I would do in a similar situation.
