When I picked up this book I wasn't sure what to expect. How could it be as good as The Prey, Ms Brennan's debut book? Nothing could beat that, or so I thought. As you can tell, I was not disappointed. The Hunt, the second book in this trilogy is just as good. In fact, in some ways The Hunt is even better. Allison Brennan has yet again pulled out all the stops to create another gripping masterpiece. As an entertainer she knows how to pack a punch!
From the meaty dialogue to the thrilling, nail-biting plot, Allison sends her protagonist and all those who are dear to her to hell and back several times. Readers who love to hear gruesome details from inside a serial killer's mind, whilst peeking inside the forensic investigations as they unravel hidden clues, will be enthralled by her talented storytelling capabilities.
Also, if it's love you want, there are some great romantic and tender scenes to keep you happy, too. What a plot! It is obvious that a huge amount of planning and thorough research has been undertaken to produce such a believable and exciting story. I could quite easily imagine this being made into a film or a TV drama series. This is a taut, well-paced romantic thriller that will leave you desperate to read the third and final book in the series The Kill!

This book has everything you want...a murder, mystery, twist and turns and a little romance. The Butcher is on the rampage and former FBI trainee Miranda Moore who survived this killer years ago helps with the hunt for this serial killer. I was up all night reading this book.

Excellent book, there are two other books in this series, The Prey, The Hunt, and The Kill. I've read the first two books, they are fast paced, page turners!!!

I agree with the other reviewers....this is a great book. If you haven't read Allison Brennan yet you're missing some good reading. I read The Prey (very good book) and The Hunt (even better). I'm looking forward to reading The Kill next.

Touched by a killer, she feels the fire of revenge.
Twelve years ago, Miranda Moore miraculously survived the torture of a serial killer who was never caught. Since then, Miranda, a former FBI trainee and now a member of a local search-and-rescue squad, has witnessed with horror the recovery of the mutilated bodies of seven young women, all victims of her tormentor, known as The Butcher. When another beautiful Montana college student goes missing, the Feds get involved, and an agent, a man Miranda once trusted with her heart, arrives to take over the investigation - forcing her toward a painful choice.
Now, while Miranda battles her demons, while friends, lovers, and traitors are caught up in a frantic race against time, a killer hides in plain sight - waiting to finish the one hunt he has left undone.

This is the 2nd book I read by Brennan (first was The Hunt) This was another great thriller!!!!!!
The Hunt by Allison Brennan is the second in her debut series. This is a story of one resilient woman and her drive to survive. Miranda was kidnapped, brutally raped and then hunted like an animal by her rapist. Miranda did the one thing that her predator didnt expect; she outran him and beat him at his own game. He was nicknamed the Bozeman Butcher and about every three years he hunts women. Unfortunately the police are always a few steps behind the Butcher and they cant find the lost women before he hunts them.
Miranda learned to trust and to love men again from Quincy Peterson, an FBI agent who worked her case. They could have been great together, but Quinn did something that Miranda could never forgive. He betrayed the trust that she had placed in him.
Quinn is back and more than anything he wants to catch the Butcher. He wants to make him pay for everything that he did to Miranda while she was his captive. Ten years ago, he did what he thought was best and he let the love of his life walk out of it. Now he has two goals in mind: first and foremost, capturing the Butcher, and winning back Mirandas heart and trust.

the second book in the series. Really good
I enjoyed reading this one and also The Prey and The Kill (all in order of course).
I love this series! There are 3 books, so be sure to read them in order. This is the 1st book and is the beginning of a great series. Ms. Brennan knows how to weave a great story.
It was prety good...nice thriller
Second book in the saga og The Hunt, The Prey, the Kill -
Search for a serial killer. By the author of "The Prey". A good book.
very suspenseful and interesting to read
Another hit by Brennan. Although advertised as a trilogy, these books can easily be read as stand-alone novels.
This is the first book I read by this author and I intend on reading more. Could not put it down.
Great suspense along with a good romance. Highly recommend!
Out of the Predator Series this one has to be my favorite.
Miranda Moore heads up the search-and-rescue squad in Montana - ever since she left Quantico the day before graduation. Quinn Peterson is the FBI agent in charge of the killings of a serial killer dubbed The Butcher - the serial killer that Miranda escaped years before. Miranda's past haunts her - most of all her escape when her best friend died at his hands. With Miranda's knowledge of the local area and the help of the local sheriff, Quinn focuses in on the clues left by the latest victims, despite his feelings for Miranda surfacing painfully. Meanwhile Miranda is facing the same problem - she's trying to ignore Quinn and her painful past so that she can catch the man that tortured her and killed her best friend. Interesting stories with good plots - a little heavy on the romance for a mystery, though.
This is the second in the series of 3. I read this book in about a day and a half. It's one of those books that you are afraid to turn the next page, yet, can't wait to do so.
A real thriller. Couldn't put it down.
Twelve years ago, Miranda Moore miraculously survived the torture of a serial killer who was never caught.
Moving suspense story, I'll be reading more by this author. Twelve years ago Miranda escaped a serial killer, she's the only one who got away. Since then she's become the head of a search and rescue team and has found more of his victims, but always too late. When the killer escalates, the FBI is called back to try again to catch him but are worried about Miranda's envolvement. She survived torture and rape, but can she survive the stress of finding the victims and torture chamber?
Great new author!
It was a really good book. I had read several of these same type of novels right in a row and kind of got burned out so I wasn't as enthusiastic about it as I normally would be. But overall, it was a great book!
Gutsy heroine, Miranda Moore, a victim of rape and torture, a survivor, hunts down the serial killer known as The Butcher.
Good reading.
Awesome book, I had to finish it.
Excellent storyline! I look forward to reading other books by this author.
This is the second book of a trilogy, but you don't have to read "The Prey" to understand this one. When Miranda Moore was 20 years old she escaped a serial rapist/killer. Twelve years later she is part of a search and rescue team trying to find the same killer. FBI agent Quincy Peterson was her savior and her lover when she was victimized. However, when he was part of her denial of entry to Quantico, Miranda tossed him out of her life. Now she is seeing him again for the first time in 10 years and they must work together to find the killer before he strikes again. Well written, nice amount of romance, good mystery.
excellent read!
Miranda Moore escaped from a serial killer 12 years ago. He's still killing and the body count is rising as Miranda and FBI Agent QUinn Petersen try to stop him.
Another winner from ms. Brennan!
Miranda Moore survived the torture of a serial kiler who was never caught. Now she's a member of the local search and rescue team and witnesses the horrorof the recovery of seven mutilated bodies.
For twelve years Miranda has battled her demons because of the death of her best friend, now is the same killer back to claim her,the one who got away?
FANTASTIC,FANTASTIC,FANTASTIC,READ IT IN A DAY!!!!
this is a very good read -- hope to read more by this author.
