Very comprehensive book detailing how to make it in the greeting card (and other novelties) world.

From the back cover:
"This book takes you on a tour of the entire market, from greeting cards to all types of related products. You'll learn how a greeting card company works and get a feel for how they assign projects and what they tend to look for in terms of industry trends. You'll also learn how to spot trends adn turn them into marketable words that a greeting card company will buy. And you'll learn what steps you can take to build a profitable relationship with a greeting card company to keep the checks coming steadily."

This is a great book for people who love greeting cards. If you are creative, this is a great book. She gives you ideas and tips, but doesn't do it all for you. She leaves room for your creativity.

I wasn't sure how relevant this would be given that it was published in 1992. Surprisingly, what the author has to say about the social expression industry was largely stuff I didn't know and probably couldn't have learned by myself on the internet. So, it is a place to start.
