I enjoyed this novel by Alice J. Wisler. The main character, Dena, was getting a fresh start in North Carolina. She was recovering from a terrible car accident, both physically and emotionally. Her grandfather left her his mountain cabin with the condition that she teach a group of troubled children how to cook. She takes the challenge and learns more than she teaches! There were several great characters in the book, including Jonas, a special man with special wisdom, and Darren, an abused child who doesn't like her at first, but soon realizes they have something important in common. I reccomend How Sweet It Is, and look forward to reading other books by this author.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Characters were believable; I liked the interaction with the kids. Also enjoyed the cooking flavor; shall try one of the recipes. It was a quick read, too, put aside other things to enjoy.

A very well written book about trust, forgiving others along with yourself, and being able to move on again. I could so easily relate to all the characters in one way or another and it's wonderful to see them grow throught the book through their expriences. A wonderful book that is easy to follow and read.
