Killed in a car crash, Lisa Japlon Black has no intention of letting her husband of twenty-six years remain a widower.

"My death devastated Haakon. How can your Vasir Kai be happy when his father is mourning so intensely?"

Aresta's black alien eyes glittered with anger. "Our Vasir Kai? He's also your son. If you want me to arrange another life for you, you'll pay a price. An agreement. Never interfere with our mission to serve Vasir Kai - or you risk being murdered, again."

"Fine. Yes. I agree. Just send me back to Haakon. He needs me"

This little book is a great comfort to anyone grieving the end of a relationship, mourning a death, or facing a major transition. This book helps the reader cope with all kinds of setbacks and losses by giving perspective, ideas to consider, themes for prayer/meditation/contemplation, and realistic information about how we humans heal after a loss. I am keeping my copy, but I found this on the FOL sale cart, and wanted to offer it here. Recommended to have on your shelf in advance of hard times and losses. Should be in every home!

only 116 pages, but when my husband died I didn't feel like reading. Each page is right to the point and the next page is usually a poem that is a perfect illustration of the previous explanation. It really helped me.

The book is designed to help with many different kinds of loss, not just the loss of a loved one, but the loss of a job, money, etc. . "When an emotional injury has taken place, the body begins a process as natural as the healing of a physical wound. Let the process happen.

This book truly helped me through some very dark times. I am not one for self-help books, at all, but this one is written in an unusual style: haiku-like, poetic, simple, beautiful -- with excellent suggestions on the back page of each poem. Probably the most useful thing I did for myself during those days; I am so glad I found this book!

About this book, Larry King says: "Brilliantly done. Very, very helpful to many, many people."

"This remarkable book deals in a warm, informative and directly helpful way with one of themost common (and certainly most painful ) of human experiences -- loss. Written by a psychologist, a psychiatrist and a poet, this kindly, witty andcompanionable book is a unique guide to overcoming grief and unhappiness -- a practical manual for emotional survival.

Let's face it, abandonment hurts. There would be more charity in murder. But, if your heart has been broken, if you are the one who wanted the relationship to work, if you are the one left behind - this is the perfect book for you.
In it you will find short, one page chapters chock full of important reminders, proverbs, advice and practical suggestions. Throughout the message is constant - let yourself hurt, take responsibility for your own pain and your own healing, you will survive, you will smile again, life really is worth living.

Accompanying every chapter is a short, one page, free verse poem. Nothing has ever helped me feel more than these did.

I read most of this book while sitting in a city park one sunny, Sunday afternoon. All around me were families playing with their children. Inside I was bleeding, and frequently crying. It took at least two more years to get over being dumped, but my healing started that day. Maybe your's will, too.
