Just when I began to think a few scenes were close to being overblown, Ms. Long would save the episodes with clever, funny twists, making me laugh. And a few times scenes were so descriptive that it took pages for a Phoebe-Jules encounter to culminate. But the magic was in the anticipation. Past Redmond and Eversea characters floated in and out of this story, making it a little puzzling for me to follow since I hadn't read some of the books in this series. Still, an interesting and well-developed main couple, funny antics, and a devious subplot made it easy to see how this marquess was won. Well worth the read at four stars.
