This is a book of short descriptions that tell how they did things. Examples, how did they build the great pyramid at Giza?, how did they decide the length of a mile?, how did they build the Eiffel Tower?, how did ballet dancers start dancing on their toes?, etc. Very interesting.

Cute little vignettes about all sorts of minutiae and little-known facts. Some are dated. Great bathroom reading.

I am using this book as a resource in my classroom library. The middle school students enjoy it and it increases their desire to read. The stories really interest them and they look forward to having free time to read more about the objects.
