  My grandmother had 3 daughters-in-law.

Grandma would put up canned goods and give a jar, or two, of whatever it was she had made, to each daughter-in-law.

She would laugh about it and say that when she gave a jar of canned goods to:

Martha - she always got the jar back filled with something else Martha had canned.

Nancy - she got the jar back.

Ruth - she got a "Thank-you.".

Grandma made no difference in her daughters-in-laws. She loved them all for what they were, they had married her sons and they were good to her sons. No matter if grandma got a jar back full of canned goods, the jar back, or a "Thank-you", she equally gave them more jars full of whatever she had canned, when the next canning season came up.

Now, my question to you is: When you get a jar full of homemade canned goods. Or any other kind of a gift, or thoughtful gesture comes your way.

What do you give back?
