I really enjoyed this book. The history of Liberia is something most Americans don't really know or appreciate. This story from one of the direct descendants of the country's founders is well-written and very interesting. Helene Cooper's soothing voice as narrator is also a plus.

I learned a lot about Liberia's past; it's glory days and it's rough times. The Cooper family was certainly not one of poverty, yet Helene Cooper still shares a really interesting memoir.
