I gave this book just three stars because it's not so much a guide as it is "informed encouragement". The first half of the book has profiles of women who built their own homes. The second half has information on tools, a little advice on handling contractors and a few facts to make you more familiar with construction. I expected more from something that purported to be a "guide to building". That said, the book is beautifully photographed! I would recommend this book for the photos and profiles alone. They really are inspiring.
