Absolutely charming, engrossing, touching. A beautifully structured and vivid portrait of an isolated island community off the coast of Sicily, the family that centers the novel and myths that have been inherited and started during the long time period of the book. Whether or not you regard Italy with a particular affection, that won't influence the spell cast by this novel.
