What a heart-warming and enjoyable book about an inspiring Mennonite doctor who practiced for 36 years among the Amish in Ohio. If you are interested in the Amish, this is a must read. If you are looking for a book about a selfless man who practiced medicine "the old fashioned way" with caring and compassion, and housecalls at all hours of the day and night, this is a must read! Amusing and heart-wrenching anecdotes fill the book and the pages fly beneath your fingers as you read, it is very compelling. You would have to have a heart of stone to not be moved by this book. Highly recommended!

A country-boy-turned-country-doctor goes on house calls among the Amish of eastern Ohio in this collection of true-life tales. This is a sometimes homorous and often intimate account of Dr. Elton Lehman's 36 years of practicing medicine among the Amish of Wayne Copunty, Ohio, for which he was named Country Doctor of the year.
