Here's a synopsis (from: http://www.harpercollinscatalogs.com/harper/531_1778_323836393637.htm#readmore):

" This is the second in Lisa Marie Rices scintillating new series about The Protectors, three ex-Special Forces who will do anything to save the women they love."

"No one knows who Eve, the mysterious woman with the golden voice, is. Her records have gone platinum, but no one has ever seen her. Former Delta-Op Harry Bolt doesnt care who she is. All he knows is that her music helped him put his shattered life back together again after Afghanistan.

But then one day, a woman on the run shows up in the security company Harry owns with his blood brothers, Sam Reston and Mike Keillor. RBK Security does a lot of corporate work, but its real mission is to help abused women escape violence. When the damaged beauty shows up on Harrys doorstep with an army of thugs after her, Harry realizes that this is Evethe woman of his dreams.

Harry Bolt is her last hope. She knows something that powerful men have killed to keep secret. They are hot on her trail and she desperately needs help. Can Harry keep her safeor is he one of them? He is tough, hard, scarred. Not the kind of man you can easily trust, but she falls and falls hard.

Will her heart betray her?"
*********

You know what? I know people say her books are too formulaic, and a bit repetitive, but I'm okay with that. My favorite book of hers is Midnight Man. How can you not fall for John Huntington? As far as I'm concerned, if Ms Rice can keep writing versions of that one character and scenario, I'm happy!

Okay read with an action based plot. More gruesome than the last book which I didn't care for.

The setting is still San Diego but like the other it could as easily be anywhere.

The hero is Harry Bolt, introduced in the last book. Now healed and hale [he was still on crutches and marginally suicidal in the last book] he is now a partner in the security company. The heroine is Ellen Palmer aka Eve, a jazz singer that Harry has been obsessing over. She is beaten down and on the run from a powerful and vicious man and she needs help...

Like the last book, the book contains multiple kidnappings, dead bodies, rescues in the nick of time, and [of course] lots of bunny sex.

My kind of read- a believable plot that's hard to put down with some good steamy romance mixed in. I had read Dangerous Lover by LMR a few months ago and loved it. This one was almost as good. I like her style and will read more of her books.

I liked this one a little more than the previous one, Into the Crossfire. There was still alot of inner dialogue, but it didnt seem to bog the story down, so it didnt bother me as much this time around. I adored Ellen and Harry both. This one seemed a lot more action packed, and fast paced.

I gave it a whole extra star just for the ending! I loved it! Very much looking forward the the third installment.

A good story but the romance takes a back seat to the running-from-the-bad-guys subplot. Sure there was the requisite good sex to solidify the relationship between Ellen and Harry, but I didn't feel there was a whole lot of emotional connection. We see more of Harry's brothers as they work the Ellen situation together. There is an exceptional scene involving Ellen's friend that I thought was one of the best in this story. Also, the lead-in to Mike's story (third in series) was well done and one I'm eagerly looking forward to. Still, overall this is a fast-paced adventure that is sure to entertain readers. 3.8 stars.
