A terrifying true story-thriller. A virus kills 9 out of 10 victims. A biohazard SWAT team is struggling in secret to stop the outbreak of a exotic "hot" virus Washington D.C. The HOT ZONE tells the dramatic story of a race against time, along with an alarming account of how previously unknown viruses that have lived undetected in the rain forest for eons are now entering human populations.

The HOT ZONE is a non-fiction thriller like no other.

Although this book is about events that happened back in the 80's and forward, it is fascinating, and frightening, since it can happen again. And again. Even--perhaps especially--now. This is the tale of how Ebola and other level 4 viruses, came from the rain forest to just outside of Washington DC, killing all the way. The intro to the book was read by the author, and the narrative was aptly done by Howard McGillin, who added the drama and tension without playing it up. (There was no need to play up the terror.) A little aside here...one segment begins in Thurmont, MD, a pretty, sleepy town we were heading to for a grand buffet lunch as we listened!)
