The 3rd book in the Vistaria Has Fallen series, Hostage Crisis, keeps up the pressure on the Loyalists who are trying to save their country from a mad man. Nick Escobedo, now the President Pro Tem, and his closest associates are holed up at his family's estate on the beach near Acapulco as they continue to struggle to put together a counter-revolution in Vistaria. Things are even more difficult because there is definitely an Insurrecto spy in the household.

Not a single nation has stepped forward to recognize the revolutionary government of General Serrano, back in Vistaria, and Mexico has withdrawn discussions with the Escobedo group. The U.N. has sent in an inspection team of diplomats to Vistaria to meet with Serrano but they have been held hostage in their hotel for the four weeks. Knowing that something bad was in the offing, the diplomats destroyed their identification papers to prevent the Insurrectos from forcing the individual countries (and especially the Americans) to acknowledge and deal with them.

One of the top diplomats among the group is an American, Olivia Davenport. She is exactly the type of hostage the Insurrectos want to force the hand of the US, and hiding her identity is key. Another hostage is a mysterious and sexy, British businessman, Daniel Castle, seemingly in the wrong place at the wrong time, who has been cutting quite a swath through the young, single women in the hotel. He and Olivia are thrown together when he sneaks, naked, into her room after curfew one night. He'd been with the woman next door when soldiers had arrived unexpectedly to take her away for a late-night interrogation. Olivia hides him for the night and they become an unlikely team.

Minnie and Duardo, reunited in Book 2 (Prisoner of War), take the next step in their relationship after Minnie realizes a baby is on the way and a state wedding is held. Duardo's sister, Téra, takes steps to begin a relationship with a man she's had her eye on for quite a while but is publicly rejected. However, she's not the type to take ânoâ for an answer.

This book is recommended for contemporary romance readers that like a thrilling, suspenseful story.
