I've been very harsh about Patterson books for a while now but this one?

HOORAY!

Finally a good book from Patterson/Lupica

I don't know the 'horse' world or anything about equestrian sport but this book made me feel like I was there for everything! The descriptions of the sport events made me feel I was seeing it in person, I guess you would say there is an aspect of some romance in this story but it is small part, the main part is the obnoxious half-owner of the horse and his actions as a scumbag.

Not all books with Patterson name on them means he writes it and most have been flops but this one I would recommend and enjoy the story

In my much younger days, I was part of this horsey world. I recognized the many places mentioned in Wellyworld, but that's about all that is realistic in this book. Yes, there are rich, obnoxious men like the protagonists in this story. And yes, there are a lot of good Hispanic men working in this sport. But the story was so simplistic, I could have told you the ending by the first chapter. So for experienced horsepeople, this was just boooooorrrriiiinnnggg.
