Second in the series. I call these serious cozy (as opposed to funny cozy); the victim is barely mourned and life seems better without her. Alafair starts out wanting to find the murderer for her daughter's sake but in time she wants to find it out for justice. Lots of twisty turns in this one, so many that it seems a bit of a farce. I love the time period, and Casey does a good job of making the reader feel as though they are there.
