This is a fairly-condensed view of one of the greatest English admirals in history. Nelson seemed to be fearless; he defied orders from his superiors when he felt it was necessary. Since his decisions were generally better than his superiors, they seemed to have ignored Nelson's insubordination. Because of Nelson's numerous and serious injuries, it is obvious that even being an admiral was no picnic during war on the high seas.

After retiring because of Nelson's wounds (loss of an eye and an arm), I was shocked to see that England would call him back to the sea. However, the English Admiralty knew what they were doing because Nelson severely damaged the French and Napoleon at the Battle of the Nile.

Hourly History does a fine job of telling their readers about the faults as well as the excellence of the legends they describe. Nelson was a fascinating character; he maintained an affair with the wife (Emma) of a close friend, William Hamilton. All three of them remained friendly for years.

This is a quick read because Nelson was such a commanding person and his exploits were the stuff of legend. I enjoyed reading about this amazing man.
