Well, this is the W.E.B. Griffin I remember from his "Corps" series. What I mean is while there is sex in the book, it plays a very minor role. Unlike some of his books, especially the ones he did with a co-author, where it seems the war is just a backdrop to almost continuous sex and the women are two-dimensional characters whose sole purpose is to offer themselves to the book's heroes. Frankly, I like to read novels which don't insult my intelligence.

However, this is only the first book in this series and that co-author joins him again in the fourth book. So I'll continue reading this series to see what happens.

Aside from all that, this book was a page turner which I really enjoyed. It covers spying, sabotage and political conspiracies in a World War II scenario which incorporated South American culture and historic political movements. Like a lot of novels the heroes are somewhat unbelievable, but I can live with that.
