Like most classic sci-fi, this is a well written story that was novel once, but now has been turned into a much travelled plot. Let's just say there was a Six Million Dollar Man episode with the same basic premise, and recurring from there. It won the Nebula in 1975 and the Hugo in 1976. The layout of this book is nifty.
