Home Fires Burning
Author: Robert Inman
The place--a small Alabama town. The time--1944. As the distant war draws to a close, Jake Tibbetts, editor of the local newspaper and the town's self-proclaimed conscience, must come to terms with the way World War II has changed everything--and the entire town finds itself uncomfortably straddling the threshold of a new era.

It has been years since I have read this book, but I remember it as being a very good read. I look for his novels.

This book is exactly the kind of book my dad used to read, an old fashioned war story with romance, and swashbuckling. I admit I didn't finish it because I don't like war stories. But it would be great for someone who likes an old-fashioned read, with a strightforward plot and scenes of war.
