It is surprising to read how much history such a small place can have. Captivating History recounts the ethnic groups that have mingled over the centuries to create the unique island of Bali. Having been there myself, I can attest to its beauty and the kindness of the inhabitants.
This story of Bali wasn't all that interesting between the historical information and the fighting for independence these people had to undergo. The recitation of the various rulers did not add to the story in any meaningful way. However, there are lots of references for further study. It is unfortunate that, because they are Hindu, Bali has been the site of Islamic terrorist attacks, which have damaged the Bali tourist industry.
