Great book! Noah is injured from during a farm accident while a teen and pretty much becomes a recluse. His handsome younger brother can do no wrong in his Mom's eye (while Noah is a monster) but his younger brother is a liar, cheat, and womanizer. He marries a girl because she won't go to bed with him without a ring and then leaves her pregnant and broke. When Noah hears his brother is killed he finds his widow and arranges to take care of her. Neither Noah or Katherine believe they are worth much but they each learn to help the other.

Wow what a wonderful story.
This book is a sort of sequel to Sweet Annie. The main characters from Sweet Annie are peripheral characters in this story. You don't need to read Sweet Annie first since I don't think there is much through-story, but it is nice to know there's a connected book to read.
Without reiterating too much of what has already been said about this book - the hero is scarred from youth and thinks of himself as a monster. The heroine grew up poor and mistreated by her mother and then her husband who married her only because she refused to have sex outside marriage. Kind of a Beauty and The Beast scenario.
The story of them coming together both physically and emotionally was beautifully told and touching.
I read a book almost every day and it has been a very long time since one made me cry. This one did. Not in a bad way, more a happy sweet way.
Not a super sensual book, the love scenes are brief and without much description. But the love story is sensual and sexy without the details.
A real keeper.

Touching story of two people who just want to belong to someone and be part of a family. As the heroine stated "I just want to be important to someone."

This was so touching! A well-done Beauty and the Beast theme. Loved it!
