I did enjoy the first two stories, but the second and third stories i did not enjoy. The Yearning and Bitten were the normal type of Vampire love stories that made sense. The Stranger in the Night story was about a cursed vampire that when he found love was no longer a vampire. It made no sense. The fourth story, The Awakening was really awful because after the old aunt died, the neice fell in love with her lover! It was more of the typical vampire story with the townspeople trying to save the neice and trying to kill the vampire with wooden stakes. I did not enjoy the last two stories.

Nice set of paranormal historical shorts. The ones by Sands adn Huntington stand out more than the others. A quick read.

The Yearning" by Hannah Howell. In Scotland, for over four centuries the males of Clan MacCordy seek blood for nourishment as they walk the night. By 1435 Alpin MacCordy lives with the curse, but also must marry for needed money. However, Lady Sophie Hay fires up a different thirst, making him wonder if love can conquer the curse.
"Bitten" by Lynsay Sands. When her ship goes down from the storm Emily Wentworth Collins nearly drowns, but Keeran MacKay saves her from the sea. The reclusive nightwalker offers her shelter. Though in some ways his castle feels like a cage, Emily finds the vampire's kiss quite enticing.
"Stranger in the Night" by Sara Blayne. Though a male occupation, Georgina Thornberry relishes digs for ancient treasures as the antiquities fascinate her. While working at a ruin, she meets enigmatic Julius Lathrop. One glance and they just about fall in love but will their embrace lead to his moon-darkened world or her sun shining realm?
"The Awakening" by Kate Huntington. In 1814 Thalia Layton rushes to Lancaster to nurture her beloved ailing Aunt Cordelia. At her relative's estate she meets Cordelia's strange companion who introduces Thalia to the dark side of love.
These four vampire romance novellas are a treat as each contains a strong bite of a plot starring delectable lead male vampires and charming innocent females. The story lines are cleverly designed so that the audience embraces the four immortals and desire replacing the women they cherish.

"The Yearning" by Hannah Howell
I found this story super predictable and in my mind, kept swearing at the characters that they were so slow witted. I mean, I figured out how to end the curse the first time Rona had recited it so many years ago. And yet it took 364 years for these people to figure it out. Granted the actual words were hidden for many generations, but still... the rest of the story, though predictable, was fairly interesting, which is what kept me reading. Overall, I'd give it a 6 out of 10 because of the predictability and the actual story line was secondary to the romance. And I don't care for stories too strong in romance.
"Bitten" by Lynsay Sands
Keeran and Emily... eh, somewhat better than the first story, but it certainly didn't endear the author to me in any way. Though I've already got some of Sands' books on my bookshelf to read soon so I hope they're not as sappy as this story.
"Stranger in the Night" by Sara Blayne
My Goddess, this author knows how to ramble! She could talk for an entire page on something as simple as an amulet, while throwing a bunch of historical information, people's names and relationships at the reader all in a single paragraph. The antiquated writing style, and the dialogue she used, not just with the speech of her characters, which I could understand based on the story's time period, but she also used all manner of antiquated words which I'd never heard of. Beyond that, her constant use of terms like "Faith" and "The Devil" smacked of Christian evangelism. It got tiring real fast and after only two chapters I felt I couldn't take any more and moved onto the next story.

I thought this was the best of the four stories. It wasn't all that predictable like the others and it kept me reading, not wanting to put it down. Yes, like the others this took place back in olden times, 1814 to be precise, but the author didn't try to write as if she were from that generation as well. A very good read indeed. :)

"The Yearning" by Hannah Howell
Hannah Howell is one of my favorite authors, I have read all of her books prior to this one. This story however lacked her usual nail bitting over the top story line. I enjoyed the book however is was not up to her usual standard.
"Bitten" by Lynsay Sands
I am begging to wonder if it is just short stories that are the draw back. Lynsay Sands is also one of my favorite authors and I have read all of her other books. But this book was a disappointment to me.

I have never read anything by Sara Blayne before and don't know if I will ever again. I am a history major and I felt like I was reading one of my textbooks. I have to read all the books in a series and every chapter in a book no matter how much I wish other wise (part of my OCD I am sure). I nornally read a novel everyday it has taken me almost two days just to read these three stories.

This is another author that I have never read before. I will however give Kate Huntington another try. I love historial romance the best in my reading, the earlier the better. This story was I felt like the best of all four stories.
