Hildegard of Bingen lived from 1098 to 1179. So much of the language she uses to describe her visions come from that time. Hildegard was - and maybe still is - considered a mystic. I think she is no longer considered a "Saint" by the Catholic church because of some of her pagan views mixed in with Christianity.
