Five years ago a fatal car crash killed her father and crippled her mother, Catherine, forcing Lisa Stone to work two jobs in order to pay cumulative medical bills and support herself and her mother. Adding to their burden, Lisa and her mother have recently been told that Catherine suffers from cervical cancer. Lisa's primary concern is caring for her mother, both emotionally and financially, but she is fast becoming disillusioned and exhausted. Her evening job, cleaning at a local museum, is Lisa's escape from the trials of the real world. While in her boss's office, fatigue overtakes Lisa and she falls asleep only to awaken when he and a colleague arrive early in the morning. Fearing termination, Lisa scrambles to hide under his desk and overhears the two talking about a rare, medieval artifact the museum has recently acquired. After they leave, curiosity gets the better of her and Lisa investigates the intricately designed box left on top of the desk. Upon opening it and touching the strange flask inside, the world shifts beneath Lisa's feet and she feels herself falling...landing at the feet of a giant man stepping from his bath

Loved it! Was in a huge Karen Marie Moning phase and read the whole series.

The story of Lisa from the 21st century and Circenn, laird of Castle Brodie from the 1500 scottish land. True romance at its best with time travel thrown in.

As much as I LOVE(!!!) Karen Marie Moning and her books, this one... not my favorite, by a long shot.

Third book of hte Highlander Series. I read the three books of the fever series. I think if you read this book it will help you understand some of the fever background more. Jill and Circenn are wonderful main characters. I wans't wild about the last 20 pages ofthe book, I thought she could have written a better ending, but the rest was very good.

KMM ROCKS! I can not wait for her next book to come out.
Another wonderful story by this author!
Didn't wrap me up as much as the Twins' books did, but quite enjoyable on it's own. The beginning chapter of book 4 has hooked me, so I'm off to find that one next :)
KMMs books are some of the best I've read- I would highly recommend this series to anyone.
This was a cute and fun story and fits in perfectly with the series. The author has quickly become one of my favorites with her very witty writing and humor. A must read!
I love the way the author makes you feel as if you are in a castle from centuries ago. A wonderful, fanciful romance. Great sexual tension.
Loved it! Love the whole series! Write more Keren!

I found this book disappointing. So far its my least favorite in the series. The end was such a letdown. Her plots are definitely all the same and from reading other reviews of the Immortal Highlander, we have more virgins to come and I'm just not looking forward to it! If I didn't want to know about the other Highlanders and the MacKeltars, so I could know more about the Fever series, I would just drop this series. And that would be a first for me!

good read. interesting twists and turns with the time travel.
A fantastic addition to both Paranormal Romance and Historical Romance genres. Moning has outdone herself with this Highlander series! Original story lines with sexy alpha males and smart heroines, what more could you ask for?
this was the most fun I have had reading a book in ages. Really like this series.

Fantastic addition to the series. Beautifully textured prose and the detail to the time period is fascinating. The halting romance of Circenn and 21st century time-ported Lisa is hot. Adam Black the fae character I hated in "Beyond the Highland Mist" is prominent in this book. Love the characters. The ending is quite a delightful surprise and I find I like Adam quite a lot.
Excellent books. All the books in this series are very good.
Interesting time travel book. Good read.

Such an awesome series and I am so happy to have read this installment, sexy, sensual, and everlasting. Wonderful read
This whole series is very entertaining and easy to read. They are all a little similar as far as the basic plot goes, but I like a good happy ending and escape so it was good for me! I wish I would have read these prior to reading the Fever series. They have so much information that pertains to the storylines there--not super-important information necessary to enjoy the Fever books, but just interesting links and facts.
Great book!

another good one featuring a sexy highlander!
After her father died, Lisa worked hard to help her mother, and she worked harder still when it was discovered that her mother had cancer. She's spent so much time trying to help her family that she doesn't have much of a life anymore.
During her time at her second job, working as a night maid at a museum, she touches an ancient flask and is transported back to Scotland in the year 1308. The man she is transported to is Circenn, who swore an oath to a fairy that he would kill whoever discovered the flask. However, Circenn is reluctant to fulfill his oath, because he doesn't believe Lisa is guilty of anything. He has no way of sending Lisa back to her own time, so, grasping at a loophole in the oath, he gets to know Lisa and the two start to fall in love.
However, Lisa still wants to go back to her own time, because she wants to be with her sick mother. Also, Circenn has secrets of his own. He's worried about falling in love with Lisa, because he's immortal, which means that he would have to watch her grow old and die. He hates his immortality and fears that the magic that he can do is evil. He worries about sharing all his secrets with Lisa, because he's afraid that she'll want to leave him if he does.

A WARRIOR OF IMMORTAL POWERS
He was a mighty Scottish warrior who lived in a world bound by ancient laws and timeless magic. But no immortal powers could prepare the laird of Castle Brodie for the lovely, accursed lass who stood before him. A terrible trick of fate had sent her 700 years back in time and into his private chamber to tempt him with her beautyand seduce him with a desire he could never fulfill. For this woman he burned to possess was also the woman he was sworn to destroy.
A WOMAN CAUGHT IN THE MISTS OF TIME
When Lisa felt the earth move under her feet, the fiercely independent 21st century woman never dreamed she was falling...into another century. But the powerful, naked warrior who stood glaring down at her was only too real...and too dangerously arousing. Irresistibly handsome he might be, but Lisa had no intention of remaining in this savage land torn by treachery and war. How could she know that her seductive captor had other plans for her...plans that would save her from a tragic fate? Or that the man who had long ago forsaken love would defy time itself to claim her for his own...

THE HIGHLANDERS TOUCH
She opened the door and begun to step in, when he suddenly spun her around into his arms.
Without a word, he brutally closed his mouth over hers.
Too shocked to resist, Lisa stood motionless, her lips parting at the insistance of his tongue. He was angry, she could feel it in the bruising crush of his lips, and it fed her own anger.
Then it occured to her that kissing was quite a useful and fascinating way to express anger, so she worked diligently at putting every bit of her irritation and displeasure into her response. She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him back so uninhibitedly that he stiffened abrouptly, stepped back, and gazed at her with a startled expression.
Briefly, he looked pleased, then his eyes narrowed swiftly, "I donna like you, and I will not tolerate you complicating my life."
"Ditto," she clipped through swolllen lips.
"Then we understand each other," he said,
"Mm-hmm," she said. "Perfectly."
"Good."
They stared at each other.
"Donna forget who's in control in this castle, lass," he snarled before stalking off down the hallway.
If that was how he asserted his control, she might just have to challenge his authority more often.
