Romance Sex Meter: It's A Hot One!
Not only did I fall in love with the hero, Rory, I also fell head over heels with the heroin. This book blew me away from the first page. I felt the multiple facets of the relationship as if it were my own. I thought it was beautiful when the characters taught each other real things about each other, not just, that's where the penis goes. This book is exactly what one is looking for if they want well rounded characters, not just the two main ones, but also the secondary characters.
The author writes beautifully, showing the reader every aspect of the surroundings, but not in a listed way so that your feel disconnected. Sometimes she works in the description so well you don't even notice it.
I will definitely be reading the following two books in this series and recommend this to any romance reader looking for that book that has the raw emotion to make you cry. (In a joyful way I promise!)

Fun read...enough plot to keep me interested with a bit of history...more than just a vehicle for sex scenes...likeable characters.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of McCarty's Highland Guard books that I've read, so I went back and ordered this series too. I was disappointed with this one as there was much less action and it felt repetitive. Maybe if I had read this before her other series it wouldn't have bothered me. Instead of battles and/or a journey through the Highlands, this was 385 pages of the same dilemma, the heroine is supposed to betray the hero for the sake of her family of origin's clan.
Wonderful addition to McCarty's MacCleod series. Definately a keeper for your shelf. 4 stars.

The premise of this story is one of betrayal. A handfasted bride is to find the secrets of her groom in order to save her family from her uncle who also wants to kill her groom. Why, therefore, is she trying to befriend everyone and even attempt to fall in love with her groom? There is no mystery here. It is all very unsettling.
