Kate Foley is raising the infant son of her dead sister at the family horse stable, when a drop dead gorgeous star athlete shows up claiming to be the child's father. Although Kate is ready to fight to keep her "son", the childs' father is not attempting to remove him from his family and Daniel soon challenges Kate's assumptions about men, money and her self as a woman.
From Booklist:
"Kate Foley leads a quiet, hard-working life on her family's Connecticut horse farm, where she lives with her widowed mother and seven-year-old adopted son, Ben. With a heart hardened by distrust of men as well as an all-encompassing drive to care for her beloved family, Kate has little time or interest for romance. When Ben's father, a world-famous pitcher for the New York Yankees, makes a sudden and somewhat unlikely entrance into their lives, Kate greets this intrusion with grave suspicion. Daniel Montero is charming, handsome, and worldly, a Colombian with strong feelings for his family and his country. His love for his newly met son is matched only by his interest in beautiful, honest, and straightforward Kate. While Ben and Daniel launch a relationship, strong-willed Kate begins to open her heart. With a picturesque setting, well-developed and likable characters, and an engaging story line, Wolf's latest should be popular with readers who enjoy old-fashioned romance with a little contemporary spice. This is a sweet story about a single mom (Kate, actually she's an aunt) whose responsibilities have left her insulated and unattached and her son (Ben) who yearns for a father. The father arrives in the form of star pitcher for the World Champion NY Yankees. Daniel Montero is gorgeous, thoughtful and enamored of both mother and son. Kate is afraid of Daniel's intentions and of her attraction to this rich and famous ballplayer who may just be too good to be true. The story is too predictable to be great, but is a quick and satisfying read.
