Annie loses her husband in an accident and grieves by becoming a recluse and hiding out primarily in her house. To earn money she takes in boarders including Lola, a former model who is fleeing a mentally abusive husband, Althea, who is suffering from anorexia and is fleeing from inattentive parents, and Jarod, an artist who is grieving the illness and death of loved ones. Together they help each other through their losses and start to come out on the road to finding peace and happiness again.
