Grace McKenna is a shy attorney who really gave ladies man and firefighter Julian Salvatore the runaround before accepting a date. I was enjoying this story until their first date and he immediately started playing with her anus. What is with romance novels anymore? I have nothing against anal sex but it is not appropriate in your average romance novel. I highly doubt that average women indulge in this sort of thing on a first date. It's one thing in an erotic novel because you expect that but I don't want to pick up one of my favorite authors and find this behavior on a first date! The ridiculous part is that Julian had just finished telling her how he was sexually abused by a man when he was 16. And to prove his masculinity he wants to get in her ass. WTF? It just didn't track with either characters previous behavior.

If I had had another book available to read today, I would have stopped right there. Though I was interested in the sexual serial killer angle. Someone was abducting, raping and dismembering young people and somehow it tied in with Julian's past and Grace's legal career. It was clear who the culprit was early on but the investigate was interesting. This back story had a satisfying conclusion but the romance was way over the top and just disgusted me.
